What Songs Will Last A Lifetime To You?

Whether you listen to rap, dance, hip-hop, techno, country, jazz, rock-n-roll, or pop music, the Wrap-Up Magazine would like to know, what song last a lifetime to you?

Nielsen Music, the industry-standard information and sales tracking sector, released a mid-year report highlighting 2020's current most popular genre. Stats reveal hip-hop as America's favorite and most influential genre, so far.

If you’re a songwriter, I would think that longevity is something you strive for when writing a tune. You want your music to live on, especially if your career doesn’t. We love the nineties. The nineties gave us grunge and gangster rap as well as (unfortunately) a cringeworthy combination of the two.

Additionally, the 1990s gave us Nirvana, Beyonce, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Beck, The Fugees, Snoop Dogg, Green Day, and Smashing Pumpkins. The following decade is when pop truly took over, followed closely behind by rap. It’s when rock started to fade a bit despite stellar offerings from Kings of Leon and Green Day.

Bun B Talks Jay-Z and his $1,000,000 Budget

While on ‘The Residency Podcast,’ UGK member Bun B said that Jay-Z was the first to be given a $1,000,000 budget for a rap video.

Bun B noted that videos that came out before “Big Pimpin” were given that amount of money over time. Still, Hov’s video was the first song to be given a million-dollar budget from the beginning.

Chuck D Talks Breonna Taylor Case

Thirty-one years after that classic track dropped, the legendary Long Island posse returns Friday with a new LP, “What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down?” It marks the group’s return to Def Jam, the iconic hip-hop label that they helped build, and features “Fight the Power: Remix 2020,” an all-star update of the 1989 anthem.

The Post spoke to PE leader Chuck D, 60, shortly after Wednesday’s controversial Breonna Taylor decision. Here, he sounds off on being an “OG” in the Black Lives Matter movement, why “Fight the Power” is still relevant and getting the surviving Beastie Boys to record again.

Why Is Scareface The Most Loved Movie In Hip-Hop Culture?

The movie Scareface has been a huge staple in the hip hop community. Even rapper Jay-Z has dedicated countless rap lyrics and interludes to the film. The release of Scarface coincided with the rise of hip hop music.

The hip-hop community has single-handedly made the movie a cult classic. Even though the story of Tony Montana, a poor Cuban immigrant who quickly ascends through the ranks to become a drug kingpin, is actually a remake of a 1932 film of the same name.

Lil Boosie Changes His Rap Name

Boosie Badazz was always a nickname that the rapper trotted out; his 2006 solo album, which included the banger “Zoom,” was titled Bad Azz, its followup three years later was called Superbad: The Return Of Boosie Bad Azz and his record label imprint is known as Bad Azz Entertainment. But the official name change puts him in the categories of the Jeezy’s and the Bow Wow’s of the rap world who had previously given up the no-longer-age-appropriate “Young” and “Lil” qualifiers in their rap names.

Lil Boosie is out of prison after more than five years behind bars, and now he’s got a new rap name to go along with all that newfound freedom. On two of his most recent appearances—”Beez Like” off Jeezy’s Seen It All and “Jet Fuel” from T.I.’s “Paperwork”—the Baton Rouge MC has been credited in the liner notes as Boosie Badazz rather than his original name Lil Boosie. Today a rep for the rapper confirmed that the liner notes weren’t an accident, and that they reflected an official name change for him.

Since Boosie was released from prison this past March he’s dropped a slew of featured verses, but his long-awaited comeback album, Touch Down 2 Cause Hell, has been pushed back repeatedly since its initial July release date. Currently, there’s no projected date for the LP to hit the streets, but his standout feature on Tip’s Paperwork will hit shelves when the album officially drops tomorrow.

Has Rock-N-Roll Always Been Apart Of Hip-Hop Culture?

Yes Hip Hop has always been apart of the Rock culture! Rock and Rap song were some of the best ever made still today! For an institution that is dedicated to immortalizing rock and roll’s greatest heroes, there are many inductees in there who are not quite typically thought of as rock artists.

You’ve got Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Miles Davis, Madonna, and Tupac in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The confusion behind these inductees lies not with the quality of their work, but rather the categorization of it.

There are four other artists who have been nominated but have yet to be inducted—Afrika Bambaataa, LL Cool J, Eric B. and Rakim, N.W.A—and four more groups who have been considered for the ballot but who have not yet been nominated—Boogie Down Productions, De La Soul, the Sugarhill Gang, and the Treacherous Three.

Lil Wayne Sends Message To Young Rappers

"It's so easy to make a song these days, for these people man. Anybody could just become somebody. And you know, what the thing is, what I hate to shatter their world with is that, you're actually not somebody," said Wayne.

"Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean you're nobody. But you're not actually doing what we doing, or what people like I have done. You're not. You're not, and you're not, and you're not and you're not, and you're not."

Machine Gun Kelly Booed Off Stage

After the Pittsburgh native started rapping his Eminem diss "Rap Devil," an audible portion of the crowd began to boo. Footage of the moment shows Kelly saying "fuck Marshall Mathers" before launching into the song. The crowd at the Amway Center, where MGK was opening for Fall Out Boy, responded with apparent disapproval, interspersed with cheers.

The images, posted on the rapper's Instagram, show him wearing a shirt featuring the cover art for Eminem's "Rap Devil" response, "Killshot," while flipping off the camera as fans in the background raise their middle fingers.

Several comments on MGK's post allege that the rapper was wearing a sweatshirt when he asked fans to flip the bird for an unspecified reason, and that he only unveiled the "Killshot" shirt, featuring an illustration of his man bun, right before snapping the photos.

Machine Gun Kelly Disses Eminem Live In Performance

"Rap Devil," which debuted this week at No. 13 on the Hot 100, was recorded as a response to Eminem's Kamikaze track "Not Alike." Shady's response, "Killshot," released on Friday, compares Machine Gun Kelly to nine-year-old social media phenom Lil Tay and makes fun of the rapper's hair.

How Did Eazy-E Really Die?

I believe it's time for a new investigation to start in the death of late rapper Easy-E. It has been know for years that the rapper died of AIDS, but new evidence is emerging that states otherwise.

Without Eazy-E, the rap world might look substantially different today. In fact, we may have never heard of rappers like Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. And the trajectory of ‘gangsta rap’ would have been entirely different.

Dame Dash Talks Nas Destroying Jay-Z

Dame Dash recently sat down on the That's F***ed Up podcast, where he spoke about Jay-Z and Nas' famous battle, which Dame says Jay lost.

While speaking about "Super Ugly," Jay-Z's response to Nas' "Ether," Dame explained, "Jay’s response was terrible. The thing is, we had first hit him with the joint at Summer Jam that was kinda hard, the ‘Takeover.’ But when [Nas] came with the ‘Ether,’ I was kinda hype because he said my name. I was like, ‘I guess I’m in a rap record.’ But the response, I wasn’t there for the response."
