Rapper Roddy Ricch Arrested In New York City

 

Grammy-winning rapper Roddy Ricch was one of three men arrested Saturday night before his scheduled performance at the Governor’s Ball concert at Citi Field in New York City.

DMX Arrested

Rapper DMX is alleged to have concealed millions of dollars in income from the IRS and avoided paying nearly $2 million in taxes. DMX has been charged with income tax evasion, the U.S. Attorney’s office in New York said Thursday. DMX surrendered to law enforcement agents and will be presented Friday in Manhattan federal court before United States Judge Andrew J. The Jay-Z vs. Nas beef was a gladiatorial battle between two rap titans. For almost a decade, two of rap's most decorated emcees went at each other's throat.

At one point, they even took a poll about the beef, with 58% of listeners saying they preferred “Ether” to “Supa Ugly”. The consensus seemed to point to Nas as the winner. “Ether” has since become an emblematic diss track, with rappers reinterpreting it for their beef purposes.

Jay Z and Nas' feud was sparked over a Memphis Bleek lyric in 2000's 'My Mind Right', causing the rapper to respond to both Bleek and Jay Z on future mixtape tracks. The feud escalated further when Jay Z called Nas "lame" on 2001's 'The Takeover', prompting Nas to take aim at Jay on 'Ether'. The beef continued in this wild manner until they ended it publicly at the 'I Declare War' concert in Philadelphia in 2005.

Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons has listed his $8.25 million Los Angeles home for sale amid mounting sexual assault accusations. In addition to his home, Simmons is reportedly unloading his yoga studio in LA and a $9.92 million penthouse in New York City's Financial District.

Sources say that Simmons is spending quite a bit of time in Bali amid the allegations. Bali, a province of Indonesia, has no extradition treaty with America which some are speculating is Simmons reasoning for being there. However, a spokesperson for Simmons stated that he remains US-based and that he is merely traveling more.

"Russell divested himself of his active U.S. business interests last year to focus on his spiritual practice and serving his community, [...] As part of that journey, Russell has traveled to many spiritual destinations around the world but continues to retain active family presence and residence in the U.S."

At the moment, more than a dozen women have come forward accusing the rap mogul of sexual misconduct and assault that dates back to the early 1980s. After the initial accusers came forward, Simmons stepped down from his posts at All Def Digital, Def Pictures, and his yoga lifestyle brand, Tantris.

In his resignation statement, Simmons said his companies would be run by a diverse group of culture-moving executives and that he would take his time away to commit himself to “personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening.”

Then I’m looking to get back in a director’s chair. But I’m having a great time finishing up the new season of American Saga.”
