Key Moments In Hip-Hop History
Back when music was real, artist had the opportunity to shine in their own distinctive way. Rap is one of the most distinctive features of hip-hop. Rappers use rhythm, lyrics, and vocal tone to express themselves. The best rappers are distinguished by their “flow” – the way the words run together without the performer getting tongue-tied.

Jennifer Lopez Debuts at $33.2 Million in Hustlers Movie
Hustlers, which is based on a New York Magazine article follows a band of former strippers, led by Lopez’s Ramona, who come together to turn the tables on their Wall Street Clients. In addition to Lopez and Wu’s buzzy leading roles, the film also stars Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, and features memorable appearances from Cardi B, Lizzo, and Usher.
STX reports that the opening weekend audience was 67 percent female and 69 percent of the film’s audience was over the age of 25.

The film, budgeted at just $20 million, became the rare recent hit that was neither a sequel nor a reboot nor part of a series. It was also the biggest opening ever for a live-action Lopez film, and had numbers comparable to co-star Constance Wu's hit "Crazy Rich Asians," whose long-term box office success could be a model for "Hustlers."
"This is exactly the kind of movie that every studio dreams of producing, because it's going to be profitable, prestigious and a long-term performer," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore. "A lot of original type movies that are non-franchise non-sequels, many of them have had a rough go this year. This is a nice counter-balance to that."
Based on a New York magazine piece, "Hustlers," written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, tells the true story of a group of New York City strippers who, put out by the recession's effects on their Wall Street patrons, start a side con that involves drugging their wealthy marks and running up exorbitant credit card bills that they get a cut of.

$11M in Bogus Championship Rings Seized from China
According to TMZ, U.S. Customs and Border Protection were able to intercept a shipment at JFK Airport in New York City from China containing $11.7 million in phony championship/team rings. The 177-ring shipment roughly breaks down to $66,000 per ring. Some of the teams that were represented in the bogus batch of jewelry included New York Yankees, New England Patriots, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Eagles among others.
The CBP New York field office director Troy Miller noted: “This most recent interception of counterfeit sports rings demonstrates the ongoing vigilance and commitment to the mission by our CBP Officers and Import Specialists.”

Kendrick Lamar Named "Greatest Rapper of His Generation"
Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar were three of the best-selling rappers of the 2010s. They released their debut albums in succession (2010, 2011, and 2012), and the age difference between the iconic emcees is only two years. Each of the thought-provoking recording artists has Grammy awards on their resume, with legions of fans who will vouch for their superiority as lyricists.
However, when it comes to the writers and editors at the New York Times, they have determined that Kendrick Lamar reigns supreme, which is an accomplishment considering that media outlets on the East Coast, whether they're hip-hop based, pop culture magazines or daily newspapers, have historically heaped such praise on rappers in their region, for the most part.

Cadillac Returning Back To Michigan
Detroit is great, but it can be an echo chamber, especially in a company as large and storied as General Motors. The problem is that Cadillac still relies heavily on Detroit.
Cadillac is returning its global headquarters to metro Detroit after three years in New York's upscale SoHo neighborhood. The move contradicts General Motors' stated plans in the near future.
A GM spokesman confirmed that Cadillac will move to a location near GM’s technical center in Warren, Mich., north of Detroit. A probable location would be the former headquarters of longtime GM ad agency partner Lowe Campbell Ewald in Warren, Mich., north of Detroit. GM bought the 150,000-square-foot building for $2 million in 2014.
"The move will place the Cadillac brand team closer to those responsible for the new Cadillacs, including design, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring full integration of Cadillac's global growth strategy."

Jay-Z vs Nas - What Really Happened
The feud between Nas and JAY-Z was a gladiatorial battle between two rap titans. They started off with subliminal jabs and moved up to body sh*ts. Fans cheered on. Crews got in the mix. Digs got so personal that parents had to step in. Thankfully, the battle didn't end in tragedy like Biggie vs. 2Pac. It ended in triumph. And friendship. JAY-Z and Nas would later shake hands and join forces.

Jennifer Lopez's Beats $40 Million Lawsuit
Jennifer Lopez's production company has come out on top after being sued over the 2019 movie Hustlers.
A federal judge has dismissed a $40 million lawsuit filed by Samantha Barbash, a former adult entertainer whose life story inspired the movie about scamming strippers and the article it was based on. The lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York, according to documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly.
"The Defendants’ May 29, 2020 motion to dismiss is granted. The Clerk of Court shall enter judgment for the Defendants and close the case," read the documents, which were signed Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Denise Cote, according to EW.
