Why American Independent Internet Radio May Go Extinct

The new performance royalty rates that internet radio will pay artists and record labels were released on December 16 and many small and mid-sized internet-only broadcasters are now fearing.... While there was a modest increase on the fee paid for each song played, the bigger concern is what’s missing.

Is Desktop Computers A Thing Of The Past?

Computers are poor tools for what people need, but for a time, they were the only tools we had.

Desktop computers are beyond inconvenient. You can’t take them with you easily, they tie you not just to a specific building but a specific room in that building just to be able to use them.

What the desktop PC did for us, however, was give people the means to access the internet. In the days when internet use was growing rapidly, more and more people were finding a need to be able to interact with the internet. To do that, you needed a desktop PC.

Internet Advertising vs Street Promotion

What is the distinction between digital marketing and internet marketing, what is the most recent trend in the industry and how does big and multi-national companies allocate their marketing budgets?

Basically digital marketing is a broader term that portrays an arrangement of showcasing procedures that use all accessible advanced channels to advance an item or administration or build up a digital brand. Digital and internet marketing has come to succeed conventional marketing and the transition from paper and banner advertisements to social media marketing and pay per click campaigns.

Gansta Marcus has decided to speak out on the bad talk all over the internet about internet gangsters. In his own words: "I feel as if we are the backbone of the music industry. Without us doing blogs, forums, texts, and symbols, it would crush the music industry.

So I decided to release a track to let the crown know why we are on the internet doing what we do. Give a few words out of the song: I'm the internet gangster who love to rock shows, crib super big, paper stacked up high. Feel good smoke right, proven facts that i'm on.

Why Kids Should Not Use Facebook And Twitter

I don't know what has happened to the world and the internet, but something or someone needs to help make a change. With so much nudity and profanity going on, do you really want your kids exposed to this society? When the internet gods created internet, maybe they didn't realize that one day, kids would use Facebook to smother themselves.

This not only include the critical concerns about their online safety, and what they see. Some parents will use their own email accounts to make their kids' Facebook page, but how far will that go? Average kid over the age of 10 probably has a Facebook, Twitter, or some kind of social media account.

As long as kids don't abuse the use of facebook there is nothing wrong with them having it, but teens minds are to weak these days to handle what they see. Just as our kids have to wait to be the right age to drive, drink and vote, the same should be for social media. Facebook for kids should not have ads and there need to be "extra privacy".

When people start talking about changing the Facebook limits, it's important to note that there is already a tremendous amount of kids who are members. Use of Facebook and Twitter among children ages 8 to 12 is skyrocketing. Even Mary Kay Hoal says kids deserve a healthier social networking experience than Facebook.

Facebook is hugely distracting kids school performance and how they respond to things. Parents letting kids have Facebook pages, with parental supervision, is a good first step toward learning safe online behavior.

Young kids need unstructured play, outdoor time, hands-on activities, and face-to-face interactions with other kids. It's part of their development. Getting them involved in the addictive world of Facebook too young may stunt their growth in more ways than one. It also opens the door to a more sedentary lifestyle, which contributes to childhood obesity.

There are lots of ways for your computer to get infected with viruses, spyware, and other malicious software on social networking sites like Facebook, and kids who haven't even hit their teens yet have little to no understanding of what malware is or how to avoid it.

Young kids are very susceptible to just going with the crowd, and that goes double when the anonymity of the Internet is involved. Preteens may be more likely to follow the lead of peers who are making rude comments online.

In elementary school, kids are developing skills like how to study and do homework. Introducing Facebook during this critical time could disrupt solid study patterns and get them in the habit of trying to social network and do homework simultaneously.

The majority of Facebook's users are older teens and adults who may post suggestive photos or use inappropriate language for your under-13 child to see or hear. If your preteen absolutely needs to social network, many parents prefer more child-oriented sites like Togetherville for this reason.

Investors Put $2.4 Billion Into Music

In the 57 investment deals totaling over $2.4 billion tracked by Billboard, nearly 9 in 10 dollars invested went to a traditional music company, an EDM concert promoter or a company that streams music. Most of the investments were made in small, digital startups. Some are trying to improve how people discover concerts. A handful of them are changing how people create music.

A similar company hoping to disrupt the recorded music market is Beats Music, a subscription service that launched Jan. 21. An offshoot of Beats Electronics, the maker of the popular Beats By Dr. Dre headphones, Beats Music raised $60 million from Access Industries, the owner of Warner Music Group. (A year earlier, Access placed $130 million in Deezer, a competitor of Spotify and Beats Music.)

Warner Music Group’s acquisition of Parlophone Label Group was the biggest single investment in music in 2013. The $765 million deal, representing nearly a third of the year’s music investments, gave Warner not only Parlophone and Chrysalis but EMI’s operations in a handful of European countries. Also in this category was the acquisition of Nettwerk Music Group for $10.3 million in April.

Investors in streaming music were attracted to scale, potential and momentum rather than profitability. Services that provide on-demand streaming either audio or video raised $406.5 million. The largest deal was a $250 million investment in Spotify, an unprofitable company that’s a category leader and has 24 million active users — not all of them paying customers — across 55 countries.

SFX Entertainment accounted for the next-largest bucket, concert promotion, worth $480 million. The EDM-focused company’s initial public stock offering in October raised $260 million. It also acquired three EDM promoters: ID&T for $130 million, i-Motion for $21 million and Totem OneLove Group for $69.1 million.

In spite of a reputation for difficult business models and costly licensing fees, services that use licensed music attracted $838.8 million, or 49% of all investments. Four deals landed by Internet radio companies raised $443.3 million. Following Pandora’s $393.3-million secondary stock offering were smaller venture capital rounds by TuneIn ($25 million), DeliRadio ($9.4 million) and Songza ($4.7 million). There is a catch: TuneIn is merely an aggregator of Internet radio streams and doesn’t itself pay any royalties.

Investors backed numerous companies that help consumers find music they like. The smallest investment was $100,000 in Bop.fm, an online tool that aggregates songs from various digital music services. Two other startups that offer aggregation tools, Songdrop and MFiveLabs, received funding. Investors also backed numerous companies that help people discovery music or concerts. Most such deals were small, but music identification app Shazam received a $40-million investment from the world’s richest man, Carlos Slim.

Did Soulja Boy Kill Music and Introduce Social Media?

Back in the mid 2000's, if you were on the web, then you were on Myspace. Everyone in the whole world was watching Soulja Boy and was waiting on him to blow. Everyone I know had multiple songs streaming on their Myspace page.

This was the true beginning on how music was going to be discovered. At that moment when Soulja Boy hit the big screen, CD's in stores began to slow down as well as CD distribution.

It’s already been said that Soulja Boy was responsible for sparking that shift, and one could label him the very first Internet rap star.
