Falana (@falanamusic) - "Nostalgia" (Video)
Rising Nigerian-Canadian soul pop artist Falana releases the debut single "Nostalgia" from her highly anticipated forthcoming album. Widely considered to be one of the new "Nigerian musicians changing pop" (The New Yorker), Falana's forward-thinking new music comes as a follow-up to the indie success of her sophomore EP which climbed the Afrobeat UK charts, prompted a hugely popular Oxlade remix, led to tour support dates with Adekunle Gold on his North American tour, and received rave reviews everywhere from CNN and Vogue, to The Guardian, KEXP, Wonderland and Okayplayer, where it was voted one of the best albums of 2021.
Produced by acclaimed hitmaker Louddaaa (Ayra Starr, Black Sherif) this bold new single blends soulful vulnerability with Afropop sensibilities, delivering a song that’s as emotionally resonant as it is sonically rich, and serves as a firm reminder of why she remains one of the most captivating new voices in contemporary African music today.
"Nostalgia is a nod to the tender in-between feeling of joy and pain that we feel when we reflect on the past," explains the multi Nigerian Headies Award-nominated artist, whose sound carries the echoes of places she’s lived and created music, incorporating Lagos’ rhythmic pulse, Havana’s acoustic richness, London’s eclectic soul and Toronto’s global pop. "The song is about the regret of a lost love, but this emotion shows up in so many ways in our lives. I really wanted the visual to carry and expand the complexity of this emotion and make people feel something real! I also wanted to re-establish my own visual language as an artist and I am really excited that we were able to achieve that. I even got to flex my acting muscles with my amazing co-star, so it all feels very aligned for me artistically. It also celebrates my culture - video was shot in Lagos, Nigeria - and showcases the richness of Nigerian fashion, film, design, and creativity. It's the perfect blend of everything I feel I represent, rawness and storytelling, in art and music."
Accompanied by a striking visual that blurs the lines between film and music, "Nostalgia" is a love letter to memory, heartbreak, and emotional honesty. Both the new single and its raw aesthetically-pleasing music video makes a powerful statement, celebrating the fearless union of sound and storytelling, and also demonstrating that Falana is not simply here just to make new music - but to make music history.

Key Moments In Hip-Hop History
Back when music was real, artist had the opportunity to shine in their own distinctive way. Rap is one of the most distinctive features of hip-hop. Rappers use rhythm, lyrics, and vocal tone to express themselves. The best rappers are distinguished by their “flow” – the way the words run together without the performer getting tongue-tied.

Burna Boy Named Hottest Artist In Nigeria @burnaboy
It speaks volumes when your first-ever appearance on #TheList is at #1. That’s the kind of year Burna Boy has had.
His album, Outside, released as far back as January, is arguably the best album of 2018. His song “Ye” is arguably the biggest song of 2018. With over 60% of Team NJO voting him at #1, Burna Boy is the hottest artist in Nigeria!
Both home and abroad, Burna Boy has flourished. With Fall Out Boy’s “Mania” album earning a Grammy nod for “Best Rock Album“, Burna Boy could be going home with a Grammy in the next couple of months, thanks to his feature on the track “Sunshine Riptide“, the only feature on an album which peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
He also worked with the likes of Major Lazer and Lily Allen, got featured on YouTube’s Artist on the Rise, sold out Brixton Academy, and “Ye” went viral on Spotify USA (thanks in part to Kanye West’s “Ye” album). Let’s not forget, “Outside” got on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. All these and more have led to industry gatekeepers like DJ Ebro predicting a Burna Boy takeover in 2019.

Drake Sends Lil Wayne A Message
Lil Wayne celebrated his 34th birthday on Tuesday [September 27], and as might be expected for one of the most celebrated artists in music, he received a lot of birthday love, with everyone from his ex-wife, Toya Wright, to estranged mentor Birdman honoring him on social media. He also received a deep shout out from Young Money titan Drake, who gave the legendary New Orleans rapper credit for helping spawn his career.
“Everything I got is because of God and you,” Drake wrote via Instagram. “Happy birthday to my brother. Thanks for believing in all of us when you didn’t have to. YM we still alive Free C5.”
Fans might note that Drake closed his message by calling for the release of Tha Carter V. The world might not have to wait too much longer before Cash Money Records puts the long awaited album out, as a recent court ruling got the ball rolling in the direction of resolving Wayne and Birdman's bitter legal dispute. The Cash Money mogul was given a month to hand over a full record detailing how the $70 million Wayne was promised a share of was spent after a judge determined that the 22,000 pages of documents previously released were insufficient. While the judgement proved to be a set-back for Birdman, it didn't keep him from wishing Wayne a happy birthday, as he went about flooding his Instagram page with blessings for the man he's long referred to as his son.
