Understanding Why Michael Jackson Wore A Single Glove

Michael Jackson's single glove characterized a certain time in the singer's career. His hands, it seems, had a journey of their own, going from bare to a single glove, then white tapes were placed on his fingertips in the Dangerous era. But the single glove became as legendary as the moonwalk and the Thriller red jacket, though few have truly known the reason why it became part of Michael's 1980s look.

Why did Michael Jackson wear a single glove?

There are various differing accounts for why the glove was worn.

Some have suggested it was due to necessity over Michael Jackson's medical reasons, while others have suggested he used it to 'manipulate' the press.

Key Moments In Hip-Hop History

Hip hop is more than music; it’s a cultural movement that incorporates different elements of art. Before there was Lil Yachty, Young M.I.A., or YNW Melly, there was a world of hip hop artist who's name rain supreme even still today.

Back when music was real, artist had the opportunity to shine in their own distinctive way. Rap is one of the most distinctive features of hip-hop. Rappers use rhythm, lyrics, and vocal tone to express themselves. The best rappers are distinguished by their “flow” – the way the words run together without the performer getting tongue-tied.

#ArtistFacts: Cam'Ron Turned Down A VP Position At Roc-A-Fella Record

When Cam and his Dipset crew were just rookies on the label themselves, Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash offered his Uptown cohort a cool half a milli to ride shotgun under the ever-ascending Roc umbrella, but the Dipset capo wasn’t easily impressed by the offer that Roc-A-Fella star artist and co-founder Jay-Z knew nothing about.

After dropping his debut album Come Home With Me and signing his own group, The Diplomats, to the Roc imprint, Cam and labelmates State Property led Roc-A-Fella to an apex met by few in this genre of music. Dipset and State Property, powered by State Property’s Chain Gang albums, Juelz Santana’s From Me to U, Freeway’s debut Philadelphia Freeway, The Diplomats’ group debut album Diplomatic Immunity, the State Property and Paid In Full movies, made Roc-A-Fella a household name.

What Happened to Lorde?

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, was groomed to be a star. After a recruiter saw footage of her singing at a middle school talent show, she was signed to a developmental contract and began working on her craft. She placed a heavy focus on lyrics and drew influence and inspiration from her mother, who is a poet.

Following the 2013 success of her internationally-renowned breakout hit “Royals,” New Zealand singer Lorde became one of the youngest artists ever to receive a Grammy—at age 17. While the artist may have soured on her own smash hit (likening it to a ringtone from a “2006 Nokia”), she went on to have remarkable success with the song.

Did Lil Wayne Betray His Young Money Crew?

It was recently reported that Lil Wayne sold his masters to Universal Music Group for $100 million back in June of this year. After documents of the deal were revealed, the sale reportedly included the master of Young Money artists as well. The three prominent artists on that list are Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga. Given all of the work and culture shifts that the four artists have created, $100 million seems pretty cheap for ownership of their sound recorded copyrights.

This news led fans to speculate which albums were sold within the deal. According to the documents, the masters include every Drake album aside from his 2020 releases. Every 2020 release from the OVO CEO is under his OVO imprint in conjunction with Republic Records. Republic is also a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Every project from 2009’s So Far Gone to 2018’s Scorpion is reportedly included in Wayne’s Universal deal. On the other hand, all of Nicki Minaj’s albums have fallen under the Young Money/Cash Money imprint since her debut release, Pink Friday.
