How The Government Took The Hustle Out The Hood

I don't think I know where to begin when it comes to this topic. There has been many hustles in every end of ghettos in America that has been crushed by the government. As I dive into this topic, I would love if you engage on any topic you find that affected you.

I was raised in an American "Hood", a low-income, mostly black and Latino neighborhood with a high crime rate, poor schools, affordable housing, etc. In those type of environments, it can become very complicated to make it out of poverty. We see the nice rides and fine women drug dealers have, but were not all cut out for that life.

For those of us who found another way to make money on the side, a'lot of that was stopped by the government. For me, it all began with the Hip Hop police. I use to be able to sit home and burn mix-tapes and sell them on the streets for a side income. Of course we all know what happened there.

During that same time, the government took down torrent sites from all over the globe. Downloading and burning movies was also a way of living. Almost every home in the ghetto had burned movies on there shelf.

Before that, the government took the power from the women by taking away the food stamps book and making it digital. We use to sell some to help pay bills, get gas, etc.

The Hood is not a culture, it's a way of life. Some hustle effectively to escape the challenges of the hood. The downside to that is , people in disadvantaged neighborhoods, often face a complex set of challenges, including poverty, violence, lack of opportunity, and systemic issues. They may experience gang violence, drug abuse, and the effects of social disorder, which can lead to risky behaviors.

I would love to hear your story. What hustle was taken from you? Comment your answers below in the comment section!
