Alex Rodriguez Breaks Silence About Jennifer Lopez

While Jennifer Lopez has not weighed in on their breakup aside from a joint statement, she has reportedly moved on with actor Ben Affleck. Now, Rodriguez breaks his silence about his split.

Recently, the Internet got wind of Lopez removing all of the ex-couples pictures together and unfollowed him. Rodriguez has thus far not done the same.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, he describes his current state as “having no regrets, everything happening happens for a reason.”

Specifically, when asked about his “biggest regret” he answered: “You know, it’s funny. When it comes to regrets, I just think that there’s things that I look back [on and] I cringe. But everything happens for a reason… and one of the reasons I’m here is [because] of all those things that have happened. And I think I’ve done a good job of learning from my lessons and then applying them in the future.”

Why did Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez break up?

Lopez and Rodriguez ended their engagement in April 2021 after getting engaged in March 2019. The couple released a joint statement to the Today show to share news of their split.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” the statement read. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Back in May, the former baseball player posted a positive message on Instagram: “I am about to step into a new beginning in my life. Anything that doesn’t serve me is clearing out of my life. New energy is emerging. New levels are unlocking for me mentally, physically and spiritually. I am remaining patient and know that this new phase of my life is coming.”

While most are deeming this as a loss on his part, Rodriguez sees this time as an opportunity for constant gratitude.

“I had five years of an incredible life and partnership and also with my daughters, we learned so much. And now we have the opportunity to take that and move forward and say, ‘You know what? We’re so grateful for the last five years, how do we make the next five years better because of lessons learned?’ So I’m in a great place,” Rodrigeuz said.

As a father of two girls with his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, Rodriguez shifts his focus toward being the best he can be for them. He concludes his statement by saying: “I’m so grateful for where God and the light has really put me, and I’m really looking forward. Mostly to see how my girls keep developing.”
