Why The World Needs To Go On Lockdown

It's 2021 and a plague has been killing off thousand in every country. There has been no effective way to combat the disease.

As countries around the world tighten lockdowns, impose curfews, ban large get-togethers and even halt alcohol sales to tackle a surge in coronavirus cases, officials in India and the U.S. announced some progress toward expanded immunization campaigns as infections rates continued to climb on multiple continents.

In the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Saturday said the country had administered more than 4.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines nationwide and had distributed more than 13 million doses.

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms reported – from mild symptoms to severe illness. It is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

So tell me why during a so called lockdown, liquor stores, barber shops, and etc. are closed, but we keep places like Wal-Mart and Menards open to the public?

Although it may hurt the stock market, I suggest one large stimulus payment with conditions that everyone stock up on supplies and food, pay bills for a month, then prepare to close your doors until further notice.

New strain

British health officials Saturday reported another infection record — more than 57,700 in a single day. It was the fifth day in a row that new infections exceeded 50,000 cases as the country struggles with the spread of a more infectious variant of the virus.

The new strain has led to renewed lockdowns in Britain as well as global travel restrictions on travelers from Britain. At least 33 countries had detected the new coronavirus variant and more than 40 countries had barred travelers arriving from Britain. Florida on Friday was the third U.S. state to detect the new variant, after Colorado and California.

Which gives even more reasons why we should have a nationwide lockdown for all. Not only will this to calm the COVID-19 crisis, it would also help with global warming. Which brings me to my next topic.

Global Warming

Both Global warming and climate change is taking its effect on us as we speak. Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants and greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface.

In the United States, the burning of fossil fuels to make electricity is the largest source of heat-trapping pollution, producing about two billion tons of CO2 every year. Coal-burning power plants are by far the biggest polluters. The country’s second-largest source of carbon pollution is the transportation sector, which generates about 1.7 billion tons of CO2 emissions a year.

So lets imagine if we were already in lockdown. No-one driving cars, no factories letting off pollution, and so on. Virus begin to die off, the earth begins a cycle of healing itself. Now reopen America slowly. Curbing dangerous climate change requires very deep cuts in emissions, as well as the use of alternatives to fossil fuels worldwide.

Scientists agree that the earth’s rising temperatures are fueling longer and hotter heat waves, more frequent droughts, heavier rainfall, and more powerful hurricanes. The earth’s ocean temperatures are getting warmer, too—which means that tropical storms can pick up more energy. So global warming could turn, say, a category 3 storm into a more dangerous category 4 storm.

So do you think the world should go into a lockdown period? Do you think a lockdown would help fight off COVID-19 and help with climate change? Leave your thoughts below!
