Matt Elam Arrested

Early Sunday [Feb. 26th] morning, Ravens safety and former first-round draft pick Matt Elam was arrested in Miami. Initially pulled over for reckless driving, Elam's vehicle was searched after suspicion arose of him being under the influence. As it turns out, an array of drugs were recovered from the car. Elam was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a controlled substance and one count of reckless driving.

Having panned out as one of the worst first round draft picks in franchise history, Elam was released by the Ravens before the incident, and was scheduled to become a free agent next month. Having already severed ties with the safety, the Ravens released a statement saying: "We are aware of the arrest of Matt Elam... he is not in our plans for the 2017 Ravens."
