According to MTV's Remote Control, economists from Wellesley College and the University of Maryland have determined that 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom have led to a reduction in teen pregnancy by 5.7 percent, or about 20,000 births every year since the first show premiered in 2009.
MTV is going to continue its grand plan to shed light on the epic social problem of teen pregnancies by continuing to glorify pregnant teens, giving them a hefty check, and making them pseudo-celebrities. It's been working thus far.
