Obama Ranked As The 12th Greatest President

The results of a survey compiling the input of 91 presidential historians, places Barack Obama as the 12th greatest U.S. President, C-SPAN reports.

Obama took office as the nation's 44th President in 2009. At 47-years-old he was the 5th youngest man to ever become Commander-In-Chief, and although his experience in government was not as expansive as many who had held the job before him, his strong conviction, communication and organizing skills helped him lead through two terms in Washington. No President has been as highly recognized by C-SPAN's panel of historians as Obama has since Ronald Reagan, who is slotted at number 9 in the new survey.

Among the attributes Obama scored highly for were his pursuit of equality, management of the economy, public persuasion and moral authority. “That Obama came in at number 12 his first time out is quite impressive," said survey shepherd Douglas Brinkley of Rice University.

Coming in at #1 is Abraham Lincoln, who regularly tops the list. He is recognized of course for abolishing slavery, ordering the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, and saving the Union after the Civil War. The Presidents universally regarded among historians as the "big three" remains unchanged, with George Washington following Lincoln, and FDR coming in at third. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson makes the top 10, but was beat out by Theodore Roosevelt (4), Dwight Eisenhower (5) and Harry Truman (6), having been placed as the 7th greatest President. The top 10 rounds out with JFK (8) coming between Jefferson and Reagan, and Lyndon B. Johnson being named the 10th greatest.

Aaron Carter Attacked During Live Performance

Aaron Carter
Pop singer Aaron Carter was hospitalized on Friday night, February 17, after he was attacked on stage by a fellow musician who felt insulted by a racially charged idiom he directed towards him while telling him to get out of the venue he was performing at.

The incident happened at the Looney Bin in Bradley, Illinois, where members of the band Ill State lingered around after opening up for the 29-year-old "Aaron's Party" singer. Witnesses say that band member Tommy Solace, who is Latino, was ordered to leave after antagonizing fans, reportedly snatching cellphones to mockingly snap photos of Carter. "Bye Felipe," Carter stated, as he watched Solace being escorted out, from the stage. Moments later Solace managed to re-enter the venue, and find his way on to the stage where Carter says he punched him twice, leaving him bloodied.

"Felipe is a Mexican name and the manner in which he said it was indeed racist if you see the video. I myself come from the south side of Chicago and am no stranger to being racially profiled and discriminated so his remarks got me really angry, especially during these times when racism is so prevalent and people think they can say what they want with no repercussions," fellow band member Haze Carbajal told a local news syndicate, in defense of Solace's actions.

Carter would be treated and then released from a local hospital, but was on social media to clear the air, on Saturday. "This dude sized me up after I said he had to go and said bye Felipe like bye Felicia the male version.. Friday? He needed to go," he tweeted. The singer's rep has since released a statement refuting that he meant anything offensive by the comment, writing: "No racial slur was used by Aaron. His response to his attacker was a pop culture slang phrase equivalent to the phrase 'bye Felica,' also found in the urban dictionary."

Man Beaten For $70k After Using Facebook

A Bronx man who has been doing well for himself selling handbags learned the repercussions of flaunting money on social media when he was assaulted and robbed during a home invasion that is believed to have been triggered by someone who got whim of his success.

The victim was home at his Pugsley Avenue residence at around noon time on Thursday, February 16, when three men entered through an unlocked back door. Two of the men were armed, but it was the third suspect, who grabbed a frying pan from the 20-year-old man's kitchen, who did the most damage. The victim was said to have been knocked unconscious and lost teeth after being repeatedly struck with the cooking instrument. They then tied him up with an electrical chord.

"Where's the money," the suspects were reported having insisted. "Tell us cause we're not leaving without it." After one of the men threatened to torture the bound victim with a hot clothing iron he directed them to a compartment in the refrigerator. The men got away with $70,000 in cash, he told authorities.
