Chris Rock Signs $40M Deal

Fans can anticipate fresh material from Chris Rock in the near future, as Netflix announced that the comedy great has signed on with the entertainment giant. The deal will reportedly pay Rock $40 million to deliver two stand-up specials.

2016 marks 20 years since Rock shot to stardom with the released of his second HBO special, with 1996's "Bring The Pain." The show is noted for having elevated Rock, who was already an established comedian/actor, into the conversation of elite mainstream comedians. A world tour is currently being planned to precede the taping of the first show in 2017, which likely means it will become available during the holiday season, if not in early 2018. It'll be his first since the release of his fifth HBO Special "Kill the Messenger" in 2008.

"Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty. There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said of the signing, Thursday [October 13].

Netflix's offer sums up to be a more lucrative package than those that have been commanded by fellow comedians Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K. and Amy Schumer. In agreeing to the deal, Rock joins a roster of talent on the service that includes John Mulaney, Patton Oswalt, Cedric the Entertainer, Iliza Shlesinger, Ali Wong, Mike Epps, Aziz Ansari, Anjelah Johnson, Chris Tucker, Chelsea Handler and David Cross, Joe Rogan, Dana Carvey, Michael Che, Gabriel Iglesias, Reggie Watts and Colin Quinn.

Rappin' 4-Tay Arrested

Bay area rapper and 2Pac collaborator Rappin' 4-Tay was arrested for burglary last month and is still being held in jail since no one has been able to post his $112,000 bail. He was arrested on the first-degree burglary for allegedly boosted items from a commercial building, according to TMZ. 4-Tay hasn’t been able to come up with the money to secure his release, and that has kept him in jail for a little less than a month. Authorities also discovered two outstanding warrants when they arrested him in September.

Rappin’ 4-Tay hit the rap scene back in the early 1990s and even appeared on 2Pac’s “Only God Can Judge Me” off his album “All Eyez On Me.” He’s also collaborated with other deceased legends like Mac Dre. He made headlines about two years back when he accused Drake of stealing parts of his verse from his 1994 hit “Playaz Club” and using them in YG’s “Who Do You Love.” 4-Tay was able to squeeze $100,000 out of Drake’s camp for the use of the lyrics.

Kat Stacks Arrested

Kat Stacks tweeted about her release from jail on Friday morning [October 14], and dismissed reports that she had been arrested for assaulting somebody. After informing her followers that she was free, the social media vixen shared the reason for her detainment, claiming that her mother went to the police with false accusations.

On Wednesday a tweet surfaced on Kat's Twitter page, in which she let her followers know that she will be "going away." She then spelled out the extent of her trouble by tweeting out Florida's law for battery in the first-degree. Being a repeat offender, she cited a stipulation that upgrades the battery to a third-degree felony if it follows prior battery charges; a conviction of which is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

"I didn't beat anyone up. My retarded mother called the police on me and LIED claiming I beat her up. No marks though," Kat wrote, in a message she concluded with the hashtags #Slut and #BadMom.  "I shoulda called the cops on my mom when I was an innocent child and she used to punch me and beat me on my head with heels," she wrote.

Closed Mouths Never Get Fed

If you do not open your mouth you will not get what it is you want. Open your mouth! Say something if negotiations aren't going the way you like. How often do you express to your partner exactly what you want or why you want it? When was the last time you shared with your partner how you feel when you get the thing you need? Well, how can you expect to get what it is you want if you don’t ask for it? How can you even expect to receive the things you say you want if you are not physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually present within the relationship to receive them?

Now, there are times when you must remove yourself from a relationship. However, this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about when you remove yourself by taking your mind, your body, your heart, your soul out of where you are being loved because you are not getting what you have not asked for. Removing yourself in that way is not only self-destructive, but you can ensure you will never get the very thing you say you want. Is it because you may not believe you deserve those things you long to ask for?

Two Morons Arrested

A pair of teens from Roseville, Michigan were arrested on Friday [October 7], for dressing up as clowns and scaring two 14-year-old girls the day prior. Jaime Salinis, 18, and Elandra Sledge, 18, are behind bars this weekend after they jumped out of a car and shocked the girls as they walked down the 18000 block of Minnesota, near 13th Mile and Gratiot at around 9 p.m. Thursday night. According to reports, Salinis and Sledge, whom a spokesperson for the police department called "morons" and "idiots," allegedly chased their accusers while screaming.

Authorities in the metro Detroit area have promised to take extensive action against citizens who dress as clowns to carry out acts of intimidation. “These incidents create unnecessary hysteria, within our community, and threats and will not be tolerated,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement. “The Dearborn Police Department will pursue charges against any individual that deliberately commits an act that is designed to create fear or panic among our citizens.” The penalty for Salinis and Sledge was indeed exceptional, with 39th District Court Judge Catherine Steenland charging them with disorderly conduct, ordering them to be detained at Macomb County Jail and setting their bonds at $10,000 cash without a 10% option. A standard misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge is punishable by up to 90 days in jail or a $500 fine.  Their court date is set for October 20.

Law enforcement officers from around the nation have begun cracking down on clown-scare hoaxes, as several instances of violence have been reported to come from the encounters. Three clown related arrests were made in the Dearborn, MI area over the past week, with several other clown scare reports remaining under investigation.

When You Get The Raw End

Everyone is treated unjustly, in big or small ways. I’ve been wronged at times. For trying to be kind, I’ve gotten scorn. A few times, after spending hours and hours trying to help someone. I know many who have tried to help and bless others far more than I have, only to be despised and blasted on Facebook.

Sellers end up paying for the majority of the buyers’ fees when it comes to selling their home? Why? They are not legally obligated to. Sellers also run a higher liability of being sued than buyers do? How did buyers get so lucky?! Why do sellers pay for 95% of the fees when it comes to listing and selling their home?

We must leave vengeance to God because only he knows the motives of men’s hearts. Only he knows the exact punishment every sin deserves. Only he knows every detail of someone’s actions – their background, their understanding of what they are doing, etc. When you suffer injustice – not if, but when – remember, the Judge of all the earth will do what is just.

Can You Sell Yourself?

Learning how to sell yourself in an interview is key. Now it's time to frame these selling points so that you can communicate them concisely. Preparation is key when you're ready to sell yourself. Concentrate on what you can do for the company, not on what the company can do for you.

Know Yourself. What are your values? What are you passionate about? How do you operate? Be You. Be the best you can be. What can you do to raise the bar and stand out. Even if you're not applying for a sales position, you need to understand the basics of sales so you can sell yourself. Effective presentation skills will not only help you sell your ideas and products, but it will elevate your personal brand.
