Fentanyl Overdoses Rise In Ohio

The surge in overdose deaths prompted Franklin County officials to urge locals to carry naloxone — an overdose reversal drug — on them at all times in the event someone around them overdoses on opioids.

At least 10 people died of drug overdoses in a just over a one-day span in Ohio. "At this time we know fentanyl can be mixed into cocaine and methamphetamine. These can be deadly combinations for those who are using."

While Ohio often sees some of the highest overdose deaths, the opioid epidemic continues to plague much of the U.S. In 2017, Ohio had the second-highest opioid overdose rate in the country, with a reported 4,293 deaths.

Minimum Wage In Ohio Goes Up 25-cent

Here is another great way to bring in the new year for alot of Ohio residences. The Ohio minimum wage was last changed in 2008, when it was raised to $7.00. Ohio’s minimum wage is scheduled to increase on Jan. 1, 2019, to $8.55 per hour for non-tipped employees and $4.30 per hour for tipped employees.

This wage only applies to companies with annual gross receipts over $314,000. According to data from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a single adult would need to make $10.15 an hour, or $21,112 a year, in Mahoning or Trumbull county to pay for bare necessities, assuming the person lives in a studio apartment, has a low-cost food plan and drives a used car or uses cheap public transportation. A family of two adults and two children with one of the parents working would need that person to make $22.57, or $46,945 a year.

“The living wage is the minimum income standard that, if met, draws a very fine line between the financial independence of the working poor and the need to seek out public assistance or suffer consistent and severe housing and food insecurity.”

“Most studies show that incremental increases in minimum wage do not have adverse impacts in terms of unemployment rates and do not cause inflation, which are the biggest concerns associated with increasing minimum wage.”

When the minimum wage increases throughout a geographic region rather than one city, it’s less likely to impact local businesses in a negative way, Sumell explained. For example, if only Youngstown increased minimum wage, businesses there might be inclined to move to a neighboring municipality to decrease costs.

Major Tragic Between Cities

Lima, Ohio is not a city in major known countries, but this city has all that it takes to grow and prosper for thriving businesses. Drug dealers have also been known for million dollar runs of major distribution. Being on I75 Interstate made this city a hot place to visit and live.

Lima, Ohio is between various major cities such as Dayton, Toledo, Ohio, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Columbus, Ohio. With some many types of drugs flowing through this city, Herion, Marijuana, Pills, Crack, and much more have made this city a new hub for mobsters and kingpins.

With cheap housing and affordable living, Lima makes it easy for residents to live aboard and start their dreams of being a standout member. Prices range from $30,000 - $250,000 a houses withing and throughout the city.

There are also many rappers that live in the city putting on in many styles. From rapping about the streets, swag, balling, and more, this city is coming with new content everyday. The city of Lima has not picked its head artist to take lead, but i'm sure the city is getting ready to build a motive.

Ohio Warehouse Catches Fire

10 separate fire departments were called to a warehouse fire in Waynesfield, Ohio. The fire started in a warehouse building at Lattimer's Warehouse, 15400 state Route 196Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and hazardous materials officials could also be spotted at the scene.

It was reported that a large quantity of rubber and wood caught fire. Auglaize County EMA Director Troy Anderson was directing all non-emergency people at the scene to stay south, out of the path of the smoke from the fire, because of toxicity.

The New Knoxville Fire Department was contacted for use of a foam truck to aid it putting out the burning rubber, but operations were quickly shut down because the foam was unable to get through the pallets on which the rubber was stored. At least 50 firefighters and 30 separate emergency vehicles could be counted at the scene.

Ohio Bank Pays Off Moms Student Loan Dept For Christmas

One lucky woman in Ohio just received her student loan dept paid off by surprise by an Ohio Bank. A 30-year-old nurse and single mother was given the surprise of her life when a bank paid of the rest of her student loans just before the holidays. Now that's a Christmas gift to remember.

On Wednesday, Jasmin Ford thought she was just participating in a documentary about student loans; little did she know, her $150,000 student loan debt was about to be lifted off her shoulders.

Source

Ford was the first in her family to graduate from college and eventually received a Master’s degree in nursing years later. However, with no financial help from family, she was forced to take out massive student loans just to cover tuition, food, rent, and other necessities.

“I could not foresee when I’d be able to pay it off,” Ford said of her debt. “I just knew this was going to be a part of my life as long as I was alive unless there was some significant change, which -- wow.”

Ford’s surprise was made possible by Fifth Third Bank, which selected her to be in a documentary on student loan debt.  On the day of the big gift, Ford just thought the film crew was coming back to shoot some additional video. Then they revealed her student loan debt was gone.

“I still can’t find the words,” Ford said Thursday. “I’m off work again today and I’m just sort of pacing around and restless because I know my life is going to change.”

Ford said life will also change for her son, Caleb. Previously, Ford worked two jobs almost every day of the week. Now, she can’t wait to pull back on work and spend more time with her family.

“I just imagine being able to spend more time physically with my family, not having to hustle, having mental freedom and with that, some spiritual freedom,” she said. “I can open myself to more experiences, opportunities and just be able to sit and be with my thoughts and be able to pursue what it is I came to do.”

“His life will be totally different,” she added. “I’m so happy and so proud that I’m able to offer that to him more than anything else because he deserves it.”
