Federal Prisons Placed on Lockdown

All federal prisons in the United States have been placed on lockdown in order to avoid any possible riots or violence that could take place behind bars, which comes as law enforcement officers across the country gear up for the possibility of violent protests related to Joe Biden’s inauguration.

In an email sent to employees from the president of the union representing federal correctional officers, it was noted the lockdown took place at over 120 federal Bureau of Prison facilities this past Saturday at 12 a.m.

The statement said, “In light of current events occurring around the country, and out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to secure all institutions.” The decision to lock down all prisons isn’t in any response to events happening in facilities and is only precautionary. Also, it was noted that the lockdown wasn’t announced until after inmates were locked in their cell on Friday night.
