(The Wrap-Up Magazine) 1 in 9 privately-rented homes in England has problems with rats, mice or cockroaches - according to housing charity Shelter. They asked 3,700 tenants about their living conditions and almost half said they had endured mould, damp or electrical hazards in the past year.
Shelter wants the government to do more to protect renters from rogue landlords. Anna Adams went to north east London to visit Ruth Edmans who said she had problems with rats, dangerous sockets and other issues. Her landlord told us he had been unable to carry out work while tenants were there and he was working with the council to start remedial works.
