A baby girl was shot as gunfire erupted on a Brooklyn street Saturday afternoon. Sporting a pink jacket, little Sarina Arshi and her 36-year-old mother, Parvin Akhter, were walking to a relative’s apartment on Rugby Road near Foster Ave. in Flatbush when someone opened fire at about 3:45 p.m. A bullet missed its intended target and grazed Sarina’s leg, sending her sprawling onto the concrete, officials said.
Her stunned father, Akbar Hossain, a cab driver who had dropped his wife and child off, chased the gunman in his car. Sarina — who will celebrate her second birthday in May — was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where she was treated and released, said Muhammad Sarwar, Sarina’s uncle.
Witnesses said a group of men were arguing with each other when one of them shot at a rival, firing off three to five rounds. The shooter and up to two other suspects remained at large Saturday night, police said.
