Senator Arrested For Gun Conspiracy

California state senator Leland Yee was arrested Wednesday over charges of corruption and an alleged conspiracy to illegally trade in firearms, with his associates in the Philippines said to be “trying to overthrow the current government,” according to an affidavit filed by the FBI.

Yee allegedly accepted campaign contributions from an undercover agent, in exchange for introductions to a Filipino separatist group that was purportedly offering to sell him high-powered firearms, including rocket launchers.

“Lim’s associates in the Philippines were said to be trying to overthrow the current government and needed money,” according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s affidavit against Yee. Armed Forces spokesperson Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said the military has information that one of their personnel is involved, and the issue is “a matter of concern.” Zagala said the AFP is willing to assist any investigation on the matter.

Benzino Shot

Rumors are that “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Benzino was shot by his nephew Gai Scott, 36, during his mother’s funeral procession. Scott was arrested by Plymouth police and charged with assault with intent to murder.

He was rushed to South Shore Hospital with non-fatal injuries and listed in critical condition. Benzino’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” castmate Stevie J. posted pictures of his visit to the hospital. Benzino is reportedly in stable condition.

Benzino has been expressing his grief at his mother’s passing for the last week on social media, receiving support from his friends and castmates, including Stevie J. According to various sources, a fight broke out between family members and Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, was shot three times by his nephew en route to the funeral service in Duxbury, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. One Twitter user posted the following picture of a hearse with police tape around it:

Sisters Attacked And Stripped

A night at the club led to a vicious attack at a Cincinnati, Ohio housing project where two sisters were stripped of their clothes while bystanders recorded the assault and did nothing. The victims, 20 and 21, woke up Sunday morning to a group of women beating them and dragging them out of an apartment at Winton Terrace.

The victims were beat to a pulp by a group of women at a Cincinnati housing project Sunday morning. Video posted online shows several women attacking the sisters as well as witnesses who were recording the attack.

The video of the assault shows the sisters being restrained on the ground as six to eight women kick, punch and stomp on them before stealing their purses. There were at least three witnesses recording the incident.

The sisters were spending the night at the apartment of 25-year-old Kianna McMeans, one of the suspects arrested by Cincinnati Police for aggravated robbery, after going to a club. McMeans invited the attackers into her apartment the next morning because she had been assaulted at the club and the sisters did not help her, the victims alleged.

Cincinnati cops issued an arrest warrant for Jakeda Phillips, 25, who is also suspected in the attack at a housing project. There was still ripped clothing on the ground where the attack happened, the television station reported.

Man Rides Tricycle Naked

Jermaine Jones, 31, was collared after Lakewood police officers found the nude man chewing glass and tobacco under a stairwell in the Ocean County complex. A New Jersey man was busted for riding a tricycle naked through an apartment complex after getting high on cocaine.

The cops were responding to reports that Jones was naked and riding through the complex on a child-sized tricycle. Jones, of Trenton, was taken to Kimball Medical Center, where he was treated for cuts to his mouth.

After admitting to cops that he was high on cocaine, Jones was booked on charges that included disorderly conduct and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

College Student Dead Over Sneakers

Willie Daquan Lee, 18, of Chamberlayne Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder, robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. An 18-year-old Richmond man was arrested and charged in connection with the February shooting death of Virginia Union University student Kahron Lee over a pair of sneakers.

Authorities said more arrests are possible in the case and noted that the suspect and victim are not related. Major Steve Drew with Richmond police told CBS 6 reporter Sandra Jones that Willie Lee was trying to steal the victim’s shoes and a struggle broke out. When Kahron Lee refused to give up the shoes, he was shot and killed.

Man Gets Stuck In Garbage

A Yonkers man apparently collecting bottles and cans became trapped in an apartment building‘s 2-foot wide trash chute for around an hour late Tuesday night before he was freed. Only two bare feet belonging to the unidentified 58-year-old could be seen hanging out of the chute when help finally arrived, a photo provided by News12 showed.

Police said the man was reaching into the first-floor dumpster when a garbage bag falling from an above floor knocked him in head first. His desperate cries for help were what alerted a nearby resident who contacted building security to investigate. Authorities said the man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for inspection but said that he was not seriously hurt.

Dad Kills Son

An elderly Minnesota father fatally shot his son during a dispute over installing cable in the family home, then held a SWAT team at bay during an hours-long standoff. During the argument, Chue Vang — who owned the home and shared it with his parents and four siblings — told his father he could move out if he didn’t like the rules.

Pang Vang barricaded himself in his bedroom, according to court records, and when Chue Vang opened the door, his father blasted him once in the chest. A relative grabbed the rifle from the dad, a former member of the Laotian military, as family members fled the home and called the cops.

Pang Vang refused to come out of the home, prompting a two-hour standoff. When officers finally found the man, he was bleeding from the neck and chest from self-inflicted stab wounds. Pang Vang was hospitalized in critical condition before being booked into county jail early Wednesday. He’s charged with second-degree murder.

A Member Of Migos Shot

A member of +MigosATL Migosatl was shot. The band was scheduled to play at the nightclub Cafe Iguana in Pembroke Pines, but the show was canceled after some type of tif with management, and the group instead headed south in its Mercedes van before the altercation.

A member of the hip-hop trio Migos was shot in the leg early Friday morning during a shootout on I-95, while members of the band were heading back to their South Beach hotel. The van was heading south on I-95 some time after 3:30 a.m. with eight people in it when a black vehicle pulled alongside near the Northwest 62nd Street exit, and someone fired a weapon toward it.

Sanchez said someone in the van who was carrying a weapon returned fire. The only person hit was the band member, and the Mercedes traveled on to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where the shooting victim is recovering with non-life threatening injuries.

People Trapped After Deadly Mudslide

Rescue crews are searching for survivors after a huge mudslide came down on homes in Snohomish County in northwest Washington, killing at least three. Police could hear cries for help from people trapped under debris.

Three people were killed and at least six houses were destroyed. At least eight people, including a six-month-old baby boy, were taken to a local hospital. The infant is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The slide cut off the city of Darrington and dammed up the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River, causing the water to pool behind the dam. First responders in Snohomish County called it the worst slide, the worst natural disaster, they’ve seen in decades.

Bullied Teen Found Dead

Cops are investigating the mysterious death of a bullied 13-year-old Brooklyn girl. Alyssa Brown was found dead in her bed at her parents’ Farragut Road home near E. 59th St. in Canarsie. Investigators found no visible injuries on the teen’s body and have ruled out suicide or foul play.

Neighbors and friends said the sixth-grader, who had a learning disability, was a shy girl who was constantly bullied by her classmates at Intermediate School 278. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine Alyssa’s cause of death.

World’s Most Wanted Cartel Boss

According to CNN, Reuters, and The New York Times, an unnamed senior American law enforcement official. “A Mexican security source confirmed the capture, saying it took place in Mazatlan, a seaside resort in Guzman's northwestern home state of Sinaloa.

Sinaloa drug cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been captured by U.S. and Mexican law enforcement officials. He had been on the run since 2001 when he escaped from a Mexican prison. Guzman is considered to be the most powerful drug lord in Mexico and was even named on Forbes magazine’s 2009 list featuring the world’s most powerful people.

The U.S. official also told CNN that Guzman was accompanied by a female when he was arrested and that the bust was part of “a joint operation with Mexican marines and Drug Enforcement Administration authorities overnight.” He said that the operation had been in the works for four or five weeks.

This arrest is a huge coup for law enforcement on both sides of the U.S. – Mexican border. Guzman was on many Most Wanted lists and marks the 25th drug lord to be killed or captured of the 37 most-wanted organized crime leaders announced in 2010.

The city of Chicago branded him the first “Public Enemy No. 1″ since Al Capone, due to Guzman’s influence on the city’s drug market and subsequent street violence. U.S. authorities offered a $5 million reward for information that led to his capture.

Gang Leader Sentenced To 20 Years

Devon “D-Bloc” Rodney, a former leader of the violent Brooklyn street gang “Six Tre Outlaw Gangsta Disciples Folk Nation,” was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the federal courthouse in Brooklyn, New York. It’s the FBI’s latest success in its campaign against America’s violent street gangs. A campaign with no end in sight.

As leader of the Six Tre set of the Folk Nation, a nationwide gang originating from Chicago that is now active in several U.S. cities and prisons, Rodney was eager to make his presence felt and establish dominance over the area’s criminal activity. Like most young gang leaders, though, he wasn’t exactly running a professional operation. It was violent and in your face.

They also targeted individual robbery victims, whom they lured to secluded areas in Brooklyn, via Internet advertisements on Craigslist, and then robbed at gunpoint. Empowered by the successful robberies, Rodney began ordering his underlings to attack rivals and enemies. The gang was eventually charged with four murders, three attempted murders, and two assaults. But as with most street gang violence, it often ended up hurting innocents more than the intended targets.
