A Lima, Ohio teen had died due to injuries after a SUV flipped in a fatal car crash. Kataira Gordon, 14, of Lima, died from her injuries, said Major Chip Protsman from the Lima Police Department.
A 2005 Jeep Laredo was traveling east on Lima’s Second Street. The vehicle turned north onto Reese Street, striking a street sign on the east side of the road. The vehicle then went went across the roadway, striking a parked vehicle in the 1000 block of South Reese Street.
The SUV then flipped onto its passenger side, trapping Gordon underneath. It had three other juveniles, ages 16, 16 and 15, who police declined to identify, inside. Protsman said police were still trying to determine who the driver was.
The three other juveniles were treated for minor injuries. LPD’s traffic crash investigation unit continued to examine the scene Wednesday afternoon, Protsman said. They weren’t yet certain what the speed of the vehicle was or what might’ve caused it to cross the roadway after it first hit the sign.
